Using YouTube Videos to Market Your Product or Service

There is no doubt that video is a powerful marketing tool. Increasingly, marketers are turning to video as their preferred medium either directly a by inclusion in an overall market campaign. This is because Google loves video. So much so that they purchased YouTube. Because of that, if done properly, your videos can rank very quickly on the first page of the Google searches.

If you are posting videos on YouTube your aim is bring traffic to you website. This is achieved in two ways. Firstly, by your links on your YourTube video and secondly by Google search engine ranking. Interestingly, ranking for these sources of traffic can be impacted by different factors.

Google operates no differently when it comes to ranking YouTube pages as it does when ranking website pages. You need to use textbook SEO but at the same time you are somewhat limited in your options. You can’t change the page architecture and there are limited options for changing the page content. You can impact title, description, tags and annotations which is always good practice but bar far the most important factor is strong backlinks.

The impact of YouTube Views (Video Ranking) on the ranking of your vidow in Google isĀ  less important that you may think. It is common to see a video with many less views on YouTube outranking a highly viewed video on the same keyword and this is almost certainly because of the quality and quantity of the external page links back to the videos.

Making a promotional video is now much less daunting than it was in the past. There are a number of on line tools which will compile a video for you from pictures and music you upload.
