Article Spinners – Do They Work?

Article spinning is the process of taking a single document and replacing single words, sentences and paragraphs with a number of alternative word choices. The purpose of article spinning is to quickly and adequately change the content of the document to fill the search engines into thinking that they are different documents and thereby increase the number of links from these documents sources back to your site.

Article spinning can be used as a way of quickly rewriting your documents for posting on multiple E-zine sites while reducing the risk that they will be seen as duplicate content by the search engines or in fact the E-zine sites themselves given the recent changes to their content rules in the wake of the last Google slap.

Opinions on the effectiveness of article spinning is varied and that’s because the results are varied. In my experience, the success of article spinning very much depends on your chosen keywords, the competition in that market, the sites that your article spinning software posts your new articles and your expectation of how high a Google ranking you may choose using only article spinning.

Article spinning will be most successful when:

  1. The content of your spun articles is at least 20% different to the original and the title of the article is changed.
  2. The page ranks of the sites used by your article spinning software have at least a 2 or 3 ranking.
  3. Your articles follow normal SEO strategies such as anchor text relevance, landing page relevance and keyword placement.

My expectation when I use article spinning is that I will quickly elevate a web page from relative obscurity to as high as the keyword relevance and the existing competition will allow. From there I would expect to have to us use more standard SEO practices such as creating back links from high page rank sites, improving site content as much as possible, using social media sites etc etc.

There are quite a number of article spinning programs available. Having tested a number of article spinning programs I had mixed results. The best performer was SEO LINKVINE which is quite easy to set up, had reasonable training resources and clearly made an impact to my website ranking everytime I published an article.

I you choose to use article spinning software to produce multiple documents for posting to  E-zines sites I would tend to rewrite the content very significantly, perhaps 40 or 50% to ensure, given how sensitive they are at the moment following the recent Google slap, that the articles are not seen as duplicate content. Personally, I know this process to be effective as I have multiple spun documents across five or six e-zines sites all of which are derived from the same document, with different author names and different titles. These spun documents, provide six quality back links to my chosen website with a long this effort than if I had written six individual articles.

In summary, article spinning has its place but don’t expect to much and as in all things, a reasonable amount of effort is required.

Productivity Tools-The Blogger’s Best Friend

I must admit I spend a lot of time writing. Traffic Infuser is a new project  for me but it is not my only project. I have a number of more traditional websites selling my own products and I have  business selling B2B hardware and software. All of these enterprizes take up a significant amount of time writing documents, procedure manuals, e-books and general correspondence and communication.

While I am a reasonable typist I simply could not keep up with the volume of work if I didn’t use some very clever tools. Specifically, the tool I have found to be the most valuable is the speech recognition program Dragon Naturally Speaking.

When I first tried speech recognition software it was a dismal failure. I abandoned the thought of using voice recognition software because of my earlier experiences. Some 18 months ago I invested $250 and made the jump to Dragon Naturally Speaking and I have not looked back. Once you have installed the product and gone through the training (which only takes 10 min or so) the product is instantly responsive and very accurate.

While it is true that you do have to do take a little care in the way that you enunciate, you soon get used to this and rapidly find that the accuracy improves to the point where you are dictating at 2 to 3 times the speed that you could type. Add in the fact that typographical errors are virtually eliminated and you end up with an extremely efficient method of producing written documents for use in blogs, on your e-zines sites or if you so wish in your general correspondence.

Dragon Naturally Speaking also allows you to navigate around the Windows desktop, insert macro controls and open applications with a single word or phrase. When you familiar with the product all these actions become second nature. In a very short time you will achieve a high degree of competency using the product and the benefits are not limited to improved typing speed but there are also side benefits such as a general improvement in the clarity of your speech, which is necessary to get the best out of the product but simply occurs as a function of using it.

Other benefits include the tendency for your thoughts to become more structured and your sentences to become better constructed. One last but very significant benefit is the reduction of strain on your hands, wrists and shoulders gained by virtue of the fact that you no longer type anywhere in you is much used to.

Dragon Naturally Speaking can also be used with a Dictaphone and there are many of these available as free apps on your i Phone .Currently, I use a free Dragon Naturally Speaking i-Phone application to dictate and e-mail my thoughts while traveling in the car. I can then easily transfer the information into written documents at a later date. Again, this makes my time in the car very productive time indeed.

Do yourself a favor and invest in a copy today. I am confident like me, that you will not look back.

Article Submission – How and Why We Do It

One of the oldest yet still more effective techniques in driving targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers is information-based marketing. This is why article writing, submissions and publications are at an all-time high. There are many tools that you can use to make the process of distributing your articles easier. However, although this is invaluable in getting your article exposed to more sites, there are common mistakes that some people make before submitting their articles to directories.

Let us take a look at the more common mistakes made in 3 key areas:

1) Confusing the reason to promote articles with the reason to write them. In article writing, the main benefits of you promoting them is branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. However, there is one reason why you write articles, and that is to inform your audience about a subject. It is greatly important that your article is based upon this fact, or else you stand to fail in the promotional benefits as outlined above. Of course, it is also highly important that you figure out how to get people to read you article, and then to click on your site link in the resource box. I have produced a couple of articles that cover these areas so please check them out

2) Failing to realize and maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing. You will more than likely already know that your article can generate links back to your site from the article directories themselves, and also from any sites who publish your article from these directories. However, did you know that you can attract more visitors and better search engine results from the same article? The first step to achieving this is to provide relevant keywords at strategic places in the article. However, do not overdo this. A good benchmark is to aim for between a ten to fifteen percent keyword density. I won’t go further into this here as I’ve discussed this in other articles but if you would like to find out more, look out for more of my article marketing articles. You shouldn’t just aim for your article to be accepted by article directories, but should ultimately aim for it to be used by publishers who scour the directories for website content. You should not underestimate the potential that this can have on your promotional efforts, as many of these publishers may have hundreds or thousands of regular visitors who could then view your article. Start out by having a plan of what you want achieved and make sure that you reach your targets. It is important to do this so that you can reap the maximum benefits of every article that you write.

3) Creating articles with content that does not help your readers. Maybe your only plan is to create an article and get links back from article directories, and that any visitor that you may get from this is fine. Well you may need to think again. Many article directories clamp down on the amount of articles that they accept that are simply not up to standard. If a poorly written,  uninformative article does make it into the article sites, then the potential of being picked up by webmasters seeking quality content is certainly lost. The benefits of one publisher with a hundred thousand website visitors picking up your article should be enough incentive for you to write an informative article. This is by no means impossible, and you may find that this value is conservative in what you may achieve from a number of publishers running your article on their site. Researching into a topic that is sought after is important. There may be many readers of this article who will feel that this information is all well and good but feel that they cannot write an article well, or may not know enough about a certain subject to write an article. This is by no means a dead-end. There are many places where you can research into a topic, or hiring a writer might be an option worth considering. The choice really is yours on how dedicated you are in increasing the exposure of your article, and consequently your website. On a basic level you can choose to gain a few back links from article directories, or with a little more effort you can enjoy massive exposure from providing quality content.
